IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS WILL SUPPORT ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) will receive support within the scope of TUBITAK’s 1601-Capacity Building for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Grant Program. IUE qualified to receive 100% grant for projects and education programs it carries out in order to instill perception of entrepreneurship and innovation. Total of 61 universities applied for this program.
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen stated that they were accepted to TUBITAK’s “Call for Creating and Conducting Entrepreneurship Certificate Programs at Universities, and he said, “The importance we place on entrepreneurship and innovation as IUE has been proved once again. This call aims to instill perception of entrepreneurship and innovation at universities, and carry successful business ideas into effect earlier. Associate, undergraduate, graduate, post-graduate students, and academicians at IUE will be able to benefit from this support.”
Prof. Dr. Esen mentioned that the first applications took place in 2014 and 14 universities were accepted, and this year 35 out of 61 universities qualified for this grant, and Izmir University of Economics has been the only university that was accepted from Izmir. Prof. Dr. Esen also stated that Asst. Prof. Dr. Burçak Alp, Lecturer at IUE Department of Food Engineering, and Seda Çiftçi, Project Specialist at IUE Project Development and Technology Office would be carrying out the studies under the coordination of Taylan Demirkaya, Embryonix Incubation Centre.
