‘CONSTRUCTING THE FUTURE ON SCIENCE’
Izmir University of Economics (IUE), contributing to Turkey’s scientific power through an international education system, will start 2017 – 2018 academic year with new departments and programs. Students joining Izmir University of Economics community in the new academic year will receive a next generation medical training. Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Medicine will admit 60 students. Also, Departments of Physics, Mathematics, and Economics, and Call Center Services, Retail and Retail Management, Legal Office Management and Secretariat, Computer Programming (evening education), and Graphics Design (evening education) programs will start education with their first students this year.
IUE will achieve phenomenal success through new developments in the fields of physical and medical sciences, and present Turkey with creative, innovative, entrepreneurial engineers with highly strong designs skills. At the same time, with its Vocational School programs, IUE will train job-ready employees very much demanded by enterprises.
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan reported that the University, which only started education 16 years ago, produced graduates that produced knowledge. The Rector said, “We make a point of offering new departments and programs for professions of the future. Science and technology complement each other. We move forward with the mission of training IUE scientists for the future world of science. Medium of instruction at the University is English. Students in the Departments of Physics, Mathematics, and Economics will receive education in English. Also, students in Faculty of Medicine, built on next generation and e-learning systems, will receive education in English with an emphasis on patient-driven education starting from the early years”.
‘Job-ready IUE graduates’
The University provided services as an education and research university always elevating the success graph, said Prof. Dr. Muğan and stated that they produced high-skilled graduates demanded by the business world. Prof. Dr. Muğan reported that Call Center Services, Retail and Retail Management, Legal Office Management and Secretariat, Computer Programming (evening education), and Graphics Design (evening education) programs would admit students for the first time this year. Prof. Dr. Muğan, who indicated that they provided programs that would meet the needs of the business world, said that choice of profession had an effect on individual’s life. “Doing something you like as a profession means contributing to self and country. We are educating the youth of the computer age. We want our students to steer developments in physical sciences, social sciences and medical sciences. We will help reveal Turkey’s power in science. We are constructing our future on science,” said Prof. Dr. Muğan.
