ART AND DESIGN STUDIO EXHIBITION
250 students from departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Architecture, Visual Communication Design, Industrial Design, and Fashion and Textile Design of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) presented their designs prepared as part of 102 Art and Design Studio II course taught by 22 lecturers from the Faculty. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan, Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, academics and students visited the exhibition held at IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design.
As part of the course, students of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design studied “observatory camp for possibly extinct species in natural habitat”, students of Architecture studied, “a living and study space for a student”, students of Visual Communication Design studied, “a character, story of a character, its toy, packaging, promotional banners and videos”. Students of Industrial Design developed projects on “product design, a product family, and packaging design”, whereas students of Fashion and Textile Design developed projects on “wearable structures based on combination of endoskeleton of a vertebrate and an exoskeleton of a bug”.
Students completed another academic year with specialized projects in accordance with dynamics of the disciplines at the course coordinated by Asst. Prof. Ali Aslankan of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design. Aslankan said, “Students based their studies on major topics such as context, scale, usage, material, and structure. These major topics were changed and diversified in accordance with the requirements of the disciplines, and completed with different products”.
