A MUSICAL FAREWELL
She completed her education-blended with music-on stage. Beliz Erkmen from Department of International Trade and Finance, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) shared her joy of graduation with the songs she sang to the audience before the graduation ceremony. Erkmen, who had been a soloist for 5 years at Group Turuncu, music band led by IUE Music Consultant Alasker Abbasov, sent off IUE graduates, with their families, to their new journeys in business life.
IUE Graduates of Faculties of Business, Fine Arts and Design, Arts and Science, and School of Applied Management Sciences, who successfully completed their studies in 2017 – 2018 Academic Year, received their diplomas at the ceremony. The students, singing the IUE and the 10th Year Anthems, threw their caps into the air proudly at the graduation ceremony that took place at IUE Amphitheatre.
Selami Özpoyraz, President of Izmir Chamber of Commerce Council (ITO), IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan, Members of Board of Trustees of ITO Health and Education Foundation, academicians, and parents bid farewell to graduating seniors. İrem Bilen, top student of the University who graduated from Department of Business, attached a star on the commemorative symbolic log with ITO Council President Özpoyraz and Rector Prof. Dr. Muğan. Simge Güçlükol (top student of Department of Industrial Engineering) and Sertaç Kılıçkaya (top student of Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering), respectively the second highest and third highest ranking students, were also presented their diplomas and plaques by Özpoyraz and Prof. Dr. Muğan.
IUE Rector, Prof. Dr. Can Muğan stated that they felt extremely proud of the new graduates as they sent them off to the business world. Prof. Dr. Muğan said, “The real challenge for our students will begin now. If they received the education we provided them deservingly, it will help them go through the thorny road to success. We have graduates in 35 countries across the world. In this age, where even the futuristic ideas come to fruition, our graduates will have a lot to deal with on their plates. They, with the spirit of entrepreneurship instilled in them by the University, need to radiate innovation to wherever they go”.
‘A Unique Diploma’
Engin Kıbrıslı, President of the IUE Alumni Association, stated that with the addition of 13 thousand 948 new graduates, they became more powerful. Kıbrıslı said, “We studied hard to enroll in this university. After that, we learned about how to become the individuals that will take this country forward by researching, questioning, creating projects, and inventing. We are awarded a unique diploma. It helps us gain more and more power each passing day.”
