TALENT TRANSFER TO GEDIZ
Talented students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) will gain experience at Gediz Electricity Retail Sales Corporation. The "Talent Management Project" signed between Gediz Electricity and Izmir University of Economics will allow 35 students studying at various departments and programs of IUE to perform internship at Gediz Electricity.
IUE Rector, Prof. Dr. Can Muğan and Gediz HR Manager, Hamdi Kasap signed a collaboration agreement. Upon completing their internship, 35 students will get a chance to be employed by Gediz if they are successful in the 2-year project, which is a first for Izmir.
IUE Rector, Prof. Dr. Can Muğan pointed that the project would be very beneficial, and the university and the sector collaboration was very important. “There are employment possibilities at Gediz Electricity for many of the fields we offer education in. I believe this collaboration is going to be very beneficial for both parties. Talent Management Project will allow our students to experience their professions, and give the company a chance to employ qualified workforce. Students will be able to decide whether they want to work in that field or not after completing their internships,” said Prof. Dr. Muğan.
Human Resources Manager, Hamdi Kasap stated that they aimed to provide the students with job experience and they viewed the project as a social responsibility project. Kasap indicated that the internees would not be treated any differently than the employees of Gediz. Kasap said, “Instead of making photocopies and serving beverages, the internees would focus on their real profession. We see this project not only as the project of Gediz Electricity, but also as Bereket Energy Group’s project. We all had difficulties when we were students because we did not have proper experience. We failed in job interviews because we lacked experience. This project will avoid this. We have chosen Izmir as the pilot city. It will be extended to other cities in time”.
Kasap stated that they would start the project with 35 students initially, and make adjustments according to the needs. Kasap also pointed that the successful students would be employed.
