THEY DESIGNED ABOUT PENCILS
Students used their skills for future teachers. Sophomore students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design- Department of Fashion and Textile Design, designed t-shirts for the benefit of ‘Kurşun Kalem’ Education Foundation, which grants scholarships for students that want to become teachers. The t-shirts they designed will be on sale on May 27 at Bostanlı Suat Taşer Amphitheatre, where Kerem Görsev and Fatih Erkoç will take the stage.
Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, stated that the students studied the subject assigned to them as part of fashion graphics design course, and she said, “The selected designs are being manufactured. Our students develop both themselves and their professions by taking part in social projects. The purpose is to sell these t-shirts in various activities in order to provide scholarship to future teachers.”
Computer aided design
Angela Burns, Lecturer at Department of Fashion and Textile Design, mentioned that the students received training on computer aided design, and she said, “Such trainings play an important role for their career in future. They were asked to design about pencil. Pencils are important for students throughout their education life. They came up with a collection of t-shirts based on this object.”
