HEALTH MEETS WITH MANAGEMENT AT IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS!
Education regarding health institutions management is being reshaped at Izmir University of Economics. IUE Graduate School of Social Sciences Health Institutions Management Graduate Program, which will be admitting its first students, will also help students from different disciplines to get a new career. The informative meeting will take place on August 19, and the deadline for applications is August 29.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülem Atabay, Head of Health Institutions Management Graduate Program, stated that the program usually was preferred by doctors and she said, “We will be offering a combination of medicine and management for the first time this year with this program. Doctors work at hospitals or health institutions focusing on health, they do not know much about management as the administrators don’t know about the field of health. The graduate program was designed to make up these shortages and integrate them.”
‘Demand towards Health Managers Increasing’
Atabay said that graduates of health field as well as of other disciplines would be applying to the program to get a new career. She said that they continued to work on establishing a health campus and they would be admitting students for the first time this year. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülem Atabay stated the following:
“The need for health institutions to be run by a modern management approach and the demand for qualified health managers with the increasing competition is increasing day by day. The main objective of our program is to train health managers and leaders by taking the increasing demand for professional managers in health sector in our country into consideration. The program being offered in Turkish and without a thesis will be very beneficial for professionals working in health institutions already. Also, for those who will not pursue academic studies, preparing a dissertation instead of a thesis will be advantageous. The program will offer courses such as Health Economics, Marketing of health Services, Decision Making Methods in Health Institutions, Law of Health and Ethics, etc. where management in regards to health will be analysed in details.”
Programs ranging from law to psychology
Graduate School of Social Sciences will offer Graduate programs in Banking and Applied Finance, Experimental Psychology, Economics, Finance, Financial Economics, Business Administration, Logistics Management, Media and Communication Studies, Private Law, Political Science and International Relations, Sustainable Energy, Design Studies, Yacht Design, and Executive MBA. On the other hand, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences will offer programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Financial Mathematics, Advanced Architectural Design, Architecture, and Applied Statistics. The informative meeting will take place on August 18.
