TWO MEDALS FOR IUE STUDENT CHEF
Nejat Güner, a Freshman at IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management, came in second place in the category of “Modern Turkish Cuisine” at the 13th International Istanbul Gastronomy Festival held by the Cooks and Chefs Federation of Turkey. Güner also came in third place with his Artichoke Pizza at “Student Chefs Pizza Contest”. Güner was awarded 1 silver and 1 bronze medal at the contest held at Istanbul TUYAP Fair.
Güner said, “Turkish Cuisine, by nature, involves slow cooking dishes. My purpose was to create a practical Turkish Cuisine with modern cooking techniques. I believe that we need to preserve the authenticity of our dishes in addition to visual presentation to represent our cuisine better in the international arena. I used techniques both modern and unique to us in the contest. I believe Turkish Cuisine will become very significant in the future, and I work towards achieving that.”
