DESIGNS BY HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, AWARDS BY IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
High school students will design prom dresses. Students will design their own prom dresses at the “2nd Fashion Design Contest among High School Students” organized by IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design.
Applications for “Design Your Dream Prom Dress!” titled fashion design contest, co-organized by IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design and Izmir Provincial Directorate for National Education, have started. The deadline for the contest is April 27, 2015. The winner of the contest will be awarded 3 gold coins, the second winner will be granted 2 gold coins, the third winner will be granted one gold coin, and the guidance teacher will also get 1 gold coin, and they will all get certificates as well. The award ceremony will take place on May 6, 2015 at Izmir University of Economics.
‘First Step to Design’
Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, stated that with that contest they aimed to find out about the interests of secondary education students in fashion and textile design, and to reveal their creativity. Prof. Dr. Adanır, who indicated that there was such a high interest in the contest, said, “We want to encourage their original thoughts and work that matches today’s design concept. We aimed to support their interest and creativity in this field, and support their creativity. As the Department, we would like to help students make decisions before they choose their careers. We wanted them to challenge themselves in a fun way whether they want to work in this field or not. We are hoping to see male applicants as much as females.”
