SLOVENIAN TASTES AT IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Izmir University of Economics Department of Culinary Arts and Management hosted “Slovenian Culinary Day” event. Slovenian Chef Janez Bratovz cooked Slovenian dishes with the help of future chefs. IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Milan Jazbec, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in Turkey, Mazhar İzmiroğlu, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Slovenia in Izmir, and many guests have attended the event which took place Izmir University of Economics.
Slovenian students studying at Izmir University of Economics attending the event in their traditional outfits livened up the day. Chef Bratovz served the guests Slovenian tastes such as stewed vegetables served with beef tongue, Polenta, buckwheat in pumpkin oil, tarragon, and pancakes with regional cheese.
Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen stated that the best way to express culture was through gastronomy, and students of IUE Department of Culinary Arts and Management had the opportunity to learn about cultures personally with the chefs from those regions. Prof. Dr. Esen said, “Our students are learning about world cuisine. They enrich their knowledge by experiencing both the traditional and the universal tastes.”
‘Good Training in Kitchen’
Ambassador Milan Jazbec stated that they were impressed with the presentation of student chefs and happy with their success. Chef Janez Bratovz also said that he was impressed with the knowledge and meticulous work of student chefs of Izmir University of Economics. “I was a witness to the quality of education the students received in kitchen. Before I came here I was under the impression that I was going to do this culinary event by myself, however, the students amazed me. I was happy to have prepared all these platters with great interests and labor of the students,” stated Chef Bratovz.
