YOUNG CREATIVE AGENCY BY IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Students of Department of Visual Communication Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics exhibited their “Young Creative Communication Services” titled ad campaigns, which they prepared with famous advertisers and academicians throughout whole year, at Izmir Culture, Art, and Education Foundation. Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, IUE Rector, Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar, IUE Vice Rector, academicians, and students attended the exhibition.
25 students came up with 10 different projects under the guidance of Course Coordinator Haluk Mesci, Cretaive Director Meriç Eryürek, Customer Relations Director Gözde Çeviker Çınar, and Visual Director Ömer Durmaz. The Advisory Board of the course consists of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ebru Uzunoğlu, Acting Dean of IUE Faculty of Communication, Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Arda, Head of IUE Department of Visual Communication Design, Asst. Prof. Dr. Sema Misçi Kip, Lecturer at IUE Faculty of Communication, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Gökhan Mura, Lecturer at Department of Visual Communication Design.
‘Future Agency Owners’
President Ekrem Demirtaş stated that the students acted like they worked at an ad agency the whole year, and he said, “We’ve set forth our goal when we established the University. We adopted a mission to train entrepreneurs. Now we see the examples of what might have been the projects of our students when they establish their own agency. They are extremely fine, successful projects. The future agency owners are graduating this year. I am very happy.”
‘Experience is gained at the University’
Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen stated that they experienced both joy and sadness at the same time. He said, “We are graduating the seniors soon. We feel sad about this but also proud to see their accomplishments like these. They have been experiencing their future work environment through this course since 2010”.
‘First-hand Training’
Course Coordinator Haluk Mesci pointed that the students received training throughout the year as if they were working at an advertisement agency, and prepared their projects under the supervision of 3 experienced advertisers. Mesci stated that students received first hand training.
