Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design produces its 10th period graduates with “Hikâye Anlatma (Story Telling)” titled fashion show. Students will be showcasing their ready to wear outfits they got inspired by Oscar Wilde’s ‘Gül ve Bülbül’ (The Nightingale and the Rose story) at the graduation fashion show that will take place on June 5 at “Pasaport Dalgakıran” across from Izmir Chamber of Commerce.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Arzu Vuruşkan, Vice Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, stated that throughout their four year study, in addition to theoretical and practical courses, students’ perspectives on fashion design got enriched by different activities. She said, “The outcome of 4 year study is the students’ graduation collections. You can see the originality and distinctiveness of the education they received reflected on the color and texture of the fabrics, on the patterns, and the sewing of the outfits. This year our students got inspired by Oscar Wilde’s ‘Gül ile Bülbül’ (The Nightingale and the Rose story). The experimental clothing prepared during fall semester turned into ready to wear outfits with the same theme.”
Vuruşkan also said that 9 students will be displaying 70 pieces of outfits, and the designs were prepared under the guidance of Jörn Fröhlich, as the coordinator, Ceren Aktaş and Paul Scherer, Lecturers at Department of Fashion and Textile Design.
