Graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) share their knowledge and experience all around the world. Volkan Öztüzün, Graduate of IUE Department of Computer Engineering, started to work as an android developer at America’s “GCIT Solutions” company.
Öztüzün reported that the company offered technical and social consultancy in many areas especially in Washington DC and California. “I work at a company that offers services in both business automation and technical innovation. It mainly focuses on cloud technologies, Hadoop, and mobile and desktop applications for professional companies. I applied for OPT (Optional Practical Training) after I graduated. The education I received at Izmir University of Economics has tremendous effects on my Professional life, said Öztüzün”.
‘Graduates Ready for Global Competition’
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen pointed that graduates like Volkan Öztüzün were each a ‘world citizen’. Esen stated the following:
“All our efforts to create multi-dimensional, multi-cultured learning environment as a means to establish internationalization within the University, is to prepare our students for the 21st century citizenship. On one hand, more and more foreign natural academicians and students come to our University, and on the other hand, our students and faculty members get engaged in more worlds. Our campus is becoming more cosmopolite as a result of our efforts on this subject. Students from five continents, 623 countries help enrich our campus life. Exchange programs in 2006-2015 resulted in 456 students from 21 European countries visiting us, and 438 IUE students going abroad. We clearly see the outcomes of graduates’ achievements in a global competition arena. We are very proud of their successes.”
