JAPANESE DESIGN APPROCAH
Students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will perform internship in the field of design at Chiba University with an 80% scholarship provided by the Japanese Government. 7 Turkish students will get a chance to observe Japanese design approach up close and review the architectural work as part of the Exchange/Communication Program between IUE Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and Chiba University Department of Architecture.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Hasırcı, Head of IUE Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, stated that they were in collaboration with Prof. Kaname Yanagisawa, Head of Department of Architecture, Chiba University, since 2004 and reminded that IUE students performed internship at Japan last year for the first time. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasırcı said, “A significant improvement in language skills, world views and intellectual levels of students were observed as a result of last year’s internship experience. They got a chance to learn about a new culture in every way, and observe the study environments, projects, and design approaches of students at Chiba University. And this year 7 more students will get a chance to learn about Japanese design approach with an 80% scholarship.”
‘Design in Tokyo’
Hasırcı also stated that students would stay with Japanese families and learn about their culture in addition to rich office experience this year. She said, “Students will get an opportunity to perform internship at both Chiba University studios as well as at design and interior architecture offices at Tokyo. They will experience examples of traditional and modern architecture. They will visit major cities such as Tokyo, Kamakura, and Harajuku.”
