Congratulation letters sent by Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç, Chairman of the Council of Higher Education (YOK), to the students placed into Izmir University of Economics faculties as top students in 2015 – 2016 Academic Year, were presented to them by IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen and the senate members. Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen congratulated the top students and he said, “Students were placed into the University after a compelling examination process. Prof. Dr. Yekta Saraç, Chairman of the Council of Higher Education, sent them congratulation letters. We shared this meaningful gesture with our students. We wish them continued success.”
Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen presented the letters to Bengi Deniz Ceylan (Faculty of Arts and Science, Department of Translation and Interpretation), Can Tunca Erciyas (Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Visual Communication Design), Sabiha Gamze Tarhan (Faculty of Law), Yağmur İdil Sarı (Faculty of Communication, Department of Media and Communication), Zeliha Kilek (Faculty of Business, Department of International Trade and Finance), Umut Şahin (Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Department of Software Engineering), and Ece Avşar (Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, at the IUE Senate Meeting.
Chairman Saraç's letter began as, "Dear Student” and he stated the following:
"You were placed as a top student into your faculty with your score in 2015-2016 university entrance exams. We share your joy and success. I am writing this letter as an expression of this shared joy. We take you seriously for our high hopes regarding the future of our country. We hope to equip you with our cultural values in addition to the universal values in your journey to have a quality profession. 21st century necessitates lifelong learning. University education will teach you about research, freedom of expression, respect to different opinions alongside professional knowledge. Philosophy of science, respect to others, patriotism, and faith should be your most important life indicators. Dear student, you hold the future of Turkey in your hands. Turkey will develop with young minds like you. The country will reach its 2023 targets with you. I wish you an endless faith and perseverance to work and excel. I would like to extend my sincere congratulations to you and to your parents.”
