IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS’ SAFETY AGAINST HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES
Safety consultants for hazardous substances are being trained at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). IUE became the first authorized university by The Ministry of Transportation, Maritime, and Communications to offer training on hazardous substances. The candidates, then, take the exam conducted by the Ministry, and start working as safety consultants. The expert academicians at IUE Continuous Education Center (IUECEC) provide 49-hour training.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. NesrinOruç, Director of IUECEC, stated that the Regulation for the Land Transport of Hazardous Materials, published on the Official Gazette dated 24 October 2013, numbered 28801, obligates the enterprises/businessesdealing with hazardous materials to employ a consultant, or to get consultancy services. Oruçsaid that the regulation went into force on June 30, 2015. She said, “It defines the duties and obligations of suppliers, recipients, loading parties, unloading parties, packagers, transporters and vehicle operators or drivers. Therefore, trainings play a major role. Holding an undergraduate diploma is necessary to attend these training courses. Additionally, the candidates should not be sentenced for crimes such as smuggling, fraud, fraudulent bankruptcy, and forgery, misuse of faith, drug and arms trafficking, human trafficking, robbery, bribery.”
Consultants Earn Good Money
