IUE GETS ANOTHER US PARTNER
Academic collaboration between Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Georgia State University (GSU) will allow joint undergraduate programs, summer school, and student-academician exchange. Prof. Dr. OğuzEsen, IUE Rector andProf. Dr. Mark Becker, Georgia State University (GSU) Rector, signed the protocol which will be in effect in 2016 at the ceremony took place at IUE Board of Trustees Hall.
Also at the meeting, steps were taken for IUE to become the next partner of Georgia State University’s Global Partners MBA Program in Turkey. The Program’s other members include: China, South Korea, Brazil, and South Africa. In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. OğuzEsen stated that they placed high importance on internationalization, and they continued to increase the international programs, particularly Erasmus. Prof. Dr. Esensaid that they also increased the bilateral agreements with non-EU countries.
‘International Education with New Technologies’
Prof. Dr. Esen said that Izmir University of Economics became digitalized with smart campus application. He said the following:
“New technologies allow access to international education interactions. With increased usage of digital technologies in learning environments recently, instruction and course programs became more international. Courses designed by instructors in different countries are offered to students in different countries. It is far beyond students in different countries enrolling for an online course. Instructors design the courses together, and students in different countries create a multi-cultural learning environment by doing joint projects, assignments, and presentations, etc.Courses, which are combination of online and traditional face-to-face models, increase the international dimension of the instruction programs. We, as Izmir University of Economics, have all these opportunities and offer global education to our students.”
‘Scientific Researches will Increase’
Prof. Dr. Mark Becker, Georgia State University (GSU) Rector, stated that they cared about IUE offering instruction in English. Prof. Dr. Becker said that scientific researches would increase with joint studies.
