ÇİPER FURNITURE AT IUE
Furniture by Architect Danyal Tevfik Çiper has been donated to IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design as part of the “DATUUM Documentation and Archiving- Modern Furniture in Turkey" project carried out by Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design. The furniture is being displayed on the 5th floor of Faculty of Fine Arts and Design building.
Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Aşkar, Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Çiper’s nephew Arıl Cansel, donator, Architect-Researcher-Author Müge Cengizkan, and DATUUM team members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Hasırcı, Asst. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Tuna Ultav, Research Asst. Seren Borvalı, Reserach Asst. Hande Atmaca and many guests attended the opening of the exhibition.
Cengizkan told about Çiper’s researches, while Arıl Cansel talked about his uncle’s past as an architect. He said that Çiper was a very successful architect who made table tennis popular in Turkey well as working as a federation president for many years.
