48 HOUR SLEEPLESS GAME MARATHONERS CAME TOGETHER AT ‘RITUAL’!
New games of the digital world have been designed at Izmir University of Economics in 48 hours. Global Game Jam’s (GGJ) Izmir leg took place at Izmir University of Economics (IUE) with 105 participants. 18 brand new computer games were developed after 48 hour of no sleep with a subject title of “Ritual”. "Hot Games" team came in first place as "Forever 2 D" team came in second and "Oyun Mutfağı” team came in third place at the event with 11 jury members, and an organization team of 20 people.
‘A Breath of Fresh Air to Computer Games’
Asst. Prof. Dr. Gazihan Alankuş, Lecturer at IUE Faculty of Engineering and Computer Sciences, and Head of the Event Committee for Aegean 2016 Global Game Jam, stated that the event brought a breath of fresh air to the world of computer games and that the participants developed games in 48 hours with little or no sleep. Asst. Prof. Dr. Gazihan Alankuş stated that people from different backgrounds came together and amateurs had a chance to meet with professional game developers. He said, “105 participants in teams of 5 developed computer games. Participating students, academicians, amateur and professional game developers came up with new games on the subject of ritual. They had fun and learned at the same time.”
