INTERGENERATIONAL BUSINESS LIFE
Intergenerational communication in business life will be brought up at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Changes in intergenerational work systems will be discussed in detail at the “1st Human Resources Summit” intended for human resources managers and employees. There will also be role play job interviews at the summit that will be co-organized with the Human Management Association of Turkey (PERYON) Aegean Branch on March 10.
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Oğuz Esen pointed out that there were three generations in business life which resulted in communication problems. The Rector said, “We will be discussing generation equation and the business world theme at the summit intended for the professionals of business life. Today three generations are working together: the baby boomers (people born during the demographic post–World War II approximately between the years 1946 and 1964), Generation X (people born between the years 1965 – 1979), and Generation Y (people born between the years 1980 – 1999). In the near future, Generation Z (born after 2000) will be entering the work force. Each generation has its own tempo, features, and qualities. The summit will help relay new ways for a healthy work place.”
HR Managers’ Assessments
Prof. Dr. Esen stated that characteristics, expectations, life purposes, work habits and routines of each generation differed and that their reflections on business life, their adjustment and communication would be assessed by human resources managers at the summit.
‘Role Play Job Interviews’
The Rector also added that IUE Rhythm Group will be performing, and IUE Theater Club will be role playing job interviews as part of the event which will also be assessed by the experts.
