UNIQUE DESIGNS BY FUTURE FASHION DESIGNERS
High school students designed their prom dresses. Senanur Bazan, student from Seferihisar Asil Nadir Anatolian High School, came in first place with her design at the “3rd Fashion Design Contest among High School Students” organized by IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design. Buse Kurt, from Balçova Nevvar Salih İşgören Anatolian High School, came in second place, and Neslihan Alim, from IMKB Anatolian Vocational High School, came in third place at the contest where 102 students from 47 high schools attended.
The winner, Bazan has been awarded 3 gold coins, Kurt 2 gold coins, and Alim has been awarded 1 gold coin at the “Design Your Dream Prom Dress!” titled fashion design contest, co-organized by IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design and Izmir Provincial Directorate for National Education.
‘Their Creativity is Revealed’
Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, stated that students were eager to use their creative skills and came up with very successful designs. Prof. Dr. Bulgun said that they’ve encountered unique designs at the contest which became a tradition.
Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, stated that they aimed to find out about the interests of secondary education students in fashion and textile design, and reveal their creativity. Prof. Dr. Adanır said, “We support our students’ interest and creativity in fashion and textile design, and support their creativity. We would like to guide the future fashion designers. We wanted them to challenge themselves in a fun way whether they want to work in this field or not. High school students reflected their fashion skills on the paper through their designs.”
