CREATIVITY KNOWS NO BOUNDS
They reflected their imagination and love onto the t-shirts. Some of them drew a big, red heart for their families, and some drew their cozy homes. Individuals with disabilities drew pictures first and then transferred their drawings to t-shirts with the help of lecturers of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design.
IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design hosted students of Ege Artı Special Education and Rehabilitation Center, a center where students of IUE Vocational School of Health Sciences, Child Development Program perform their internships at. Students drew their dreams on the papers, and later on transferred their drawings to t-shirts at the workshops on Balçova Campus.
Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, stated that they’ve arranged a joint activity with Child Development Program as part of Disability Awareness Week. She said, “The children drew very creative, sincere pictures. We wanted to do something different and transferred their drawings to t-shirts. We had such an exciting and entertaining day. We came up with a product together.”
Ezgi Oral, Lecturer at IUE Vocational School of Health Services, Child Development Program, pointed that their students performed their internship at special education centers and she said, “Such activities play an important role in terms of allowing children with disabilities to discover about themselves. Students drew whatever they wanted using crayons. All of the drawings were transferred to digital environment. Lecturers of Department of Fashion and Textile Design helped them transfer their drawings to t-shirts. The outcome was a very nice team work and stylish t-shirts.”
