FINDING BRIDAL SHOES TO COMPLEMENT THE WEDDING GOWN
Choosing the right pair of shoes that complement your clothing isn’t always easy. Especially for brides to be, comfort, in addition to looks, is extremely important. Gökhan Talay, Lecturer at Footwear Design and Manufacturing Program, IUE Vocational School, stated that the foot structure of the bride, the location where the ceremony will take place and the season played a major role in bridal shoe selection.
Talay made the following recommendations to the brides to be before shopping. He said, “Comfort in shoes comes first in design. What makes shoe special is its material. Satin and suede is good for indoors. Thin and soft leather is better for countryside weddings. Various heel sizes may be used for indoor weddings but brides need to stay away from stilettos and high heels for outdoor weddings. Also, choosing plain shoes for embroidered and flamboyant gowns would be ideal. If the bridal shoe is a color other than white, the wedding gown should be plain rather than embroidered and flamboyant. The wedding bouquet should also complement the shoes, even the make-up.”
‘Shoes Flatter the Outfit’
Talay indicated that shoes always complemented clothing, that even a plain outfit of jeans and a t-shirt could be turned into chic attire with the right pair of shoes. Talay also said that comfort was very important when it came to foot health, that shoes were worn sometimes for two hours, and sometimes for a whole day.
‘Shoes for Grooms’
Talay said that there were shoes manufactured specifically for grooms to make them look taller up to 8 cm. since high heel bridal shoes made grooms look shorter sometimes.
