NO MORE ‘DUSTY’ BOOKS
What we know as bookcases is changing. Canan Gündoğan, student at IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Industrial Design, grabs attention with her bookcase design called ‘Forrego’. In addition to its practical usage, Forrego doesn’t get dusty.
Gündoğan reminded that bookcases have been an essential part of design from past to present. “Bookcases are an absolute must in our lives. For some of us it is only a decoration object, while for some, it is a storage item. But everyone is having issues while they are using a bookcase. Based on the survey results, cleanliness was on top of the list. Many bookcase designs create dusting and cleaning issues. The main purpose and starting point of my design was to find a solution to this problem. I also wanted to design a visually unique bookcase that is user friendly and appealing,” said Gündoğan.
‘8 unique features’
Gündoğan stated that Forrego offered 8 unique features and functions, and thanks to the thin shelves, the area that collected dust decreased. Gündoğan stated the following:
“Easily installed shelves in 3 different sizes make cleaning easier. It is adjustable to all kinds of ceilings. Users are able to adjust the place of shelves to their like. Books don’t fall with the U shaped bookends. All sizes of books can be stored on different size shelves. Forrego offers 2 foldable, 360-degree swivel tables to users. It comes in many different colors.”
