TOUCH OF IUE IN ALAÇATI WIND
IUE students from Department of Fashion and Textile Design at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design presented a fashion feast in Alaçatı MillFest – Fashion and Art Festival. With their collections, the students – Dilara Karaca, Ece Metiner, Gökçe Üstgül, Zeynep Karaoğlu, and Özge Yetik – captured the Alaçatı winds on their clothes. Held in cooperation of Aegean Clothing Manufacturers’ Association with Çeşme Municipality, the festival showcased the style of fashion designers from IUE in Alaçatı.
Dilara Karaca, a student from the Fashion and Textile Design Department at IUE, stated that the collection she prepared specifically for the festival has a natural touch, and added “My collection includes beachwear and homewear. I used denim as well as natural linen and cotton fabrics in my clothes, finished them off with embroidery. I hand embroidered the ease and colors of summer on my clothes.”
‘Alaçatı colors’
Another student, Gökçe Üstgül said she was inspired by the colors and ease of Alaçatı. She said “My collection includes shawls, beachwear, homewear, poplin shirt designs and fringed details.”
‘Summer romance’
Ece Metiner said that she participated in the festival with silk fabrics which underline summer romance, and added: “My collection in pastel shades include homewear and beachwear. I aim to reach women who seek grace in beachwear.”
