IUE STUDENTS TRAIN TO BECOME ‘ENTREPRENEURS’
Izmir University of Economics students will be trained to become enrepreneurs. IUE Vocational School students will take the initial steps in starting their own business through an Enrepreneurship Course, designed in collaboration with KOSGEB (Small and Medium Industry Development Organization). As part of the course, students will learn to develop innovative business models. Students who successfully complete the course will be entitled to a 50,000 TL grant as well as a 150,000 TL KOSGEB support with no payment for two years.
IUE Embryonix Companies Director and IUE Vocational School Lecturer Taylan Demirkaya said that they aim to create an entrepreneurial awareness in students and added: “Throughout the semester, our students will learn the answer to questions such as how to form a new idea and how to transform an idea into a business model. Market research is crucial in actualizing an idea, and financial planning determines the future of an enterprise. Our students will learn these during the course of the semester and create business ideas and models in the process.” Mr. Demirkaya emphasized that students will also present their business ideas to professional investors and get together with entrepreneurs.
