IFI WELCOMES IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design has joined International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) –known as the United Nations of Interior Architecture- as an Educational Member. Izmir University of Economics carried its specialization in interior architecture to the international platform.
IUE Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, the first member from the Aegean region of Turkey, has joined countries such as Australia, Singapore, France, England, etc. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Hasırcı, Head of the Department, said, “We aim to train designers who make interior spaces both functional and aesthetic. Our profession requires turning interior spaces into comfortable and inviting spaces with particularly paying attention to the air, temperature, lighting, and fire criteria. We work for the benefit of the society. Our membership validates our recognition in the international arena of interior architecture. New period has started for us where we will be informed more about international developments and establish close relations.”
‘Izmir should lead in design’
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasırcı reminded that last year they hosted the 8th Heads of Departments of Interior Architecture Meeting at IUE with the participation of IFI members and universities’ interior architecture departments. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hasırcı stated that they prepared for the membership process with Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Osman Demirbaş, former Member of IFI Executive Board, Lecturer Selin Gülden, and Research Assistant Elif Büyükkeçeci. Hasırcı pointed that they worked for Izmir to stand out in the area of interior architecture.
