‘FASHION LOVES ART!’
Students of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics, will be presenting their new designs to welcome 2017 at Agora Shopping Mall. 95 unique designs of 40 students will be showcased on the runway in two parts at 18.00 and 20.00 respectively on Friday, December 23 at 2016 Fall Semester Fashion Show.
IUE students will be displaying different style designs from experimental outfits to costumes of movie heroes. Students of “Fashion Show Organization and Choreography” course will be putting what they learned into practice on the podium. Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, stated that senior students transformed artists and art movements into design, and said that 95 unique designs of 40 students would be showcased. Bulgun reported that students prepared for the “Fashion Loves Art” titled fashion show in design studio course under the guidance of lecturers Özge Dikkaya Göknur and Jörn Fröhlich. “This year’s fashion design graduation project fall semester fashion show focused on possible impacts of 20th century art on fashion design. Students studied an artist or a 20th century art period. Their research turned into a four piece experimental collection. Their study turned into textile designs with the help of Lecturer Jovita Sakalauskaite Kurnaz,” said Bulgun.
‘Recycling of art’
Prof. Dr. Yazgan also reported that the students prepared a denim project as a result of collaboration with the sector, and she said junior students prepared popular and iconic outfits, movie heroes’ designs. Prof. Dr. Yazgan stated that Lecturer Jörn Fröhlich’s, “Spring Cleaning” titled collection, his creations with waste materials, would also be displayed that night as part of the show.
