ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROJECT STRENGTHENED BY EU CONNECTIONS
An “Entrepreneurship Seminar” was held at Izmir University of Economics as part of the “Entrepreneurship Project Strengthened by EU Connections” co-coordinated by Finance Managers Association of Turkey–Finance Club and the Association of Young Entrepreneurs in Valencia (AJEV) and supported by Izmir University of Economics.
Opening speeches for the seminar, as part of the project being funded by European Union, were delivered by Prof. Dr. Hasan Fehmi Baklacı, Acting Dean of IUE Faculty of Business, Finance Club President, and Tevfik Altınok, Former Undersecretary of Treasury and Foreign Trade. Participants from the Association of Young Entrepreneurs in Valencia (AJEV), Spain, and University of Turku, Finland, gave information on “the importance of entrepreneurship training, start-up ecosystem and financial management” as part of the event. Also, information about collaborations within the Civil Society Dialogue Program, a program co-financed by the European Union and Turkish Ministry for European Union Affairs which aims to develop entrepreneurship training for youth, was shared with the attendees. Speakers Dr. Timo Holopainen from University of Turku, Ferhan Kaptan, President of Finance Club, and Taylan Demirkaya, Coordinator of IUE Embryonix, presented examples of supporting conscious entrepreneurship in youth. It was emphasized that INNOPEDA trainings in collaboration with intercollegiate program would start in Turkey, struggle against economic development and unemployment would be supported, and financial literacy would be increased with the support from University of Turku. Assoc. Prof. Dr. C. Coşkun Küçüközmen’s presentation, Lecturer, Department of International Trade and Finance, Faculty of Business, marked the end of the seminar. It was reported that 20 students and 4 academicians would make a trip to Valencia in March of 2017 as part of a project activity.
