E3 PLATFORM AT IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
US Embassy Ankara and Turkish American Association set up "E3 Platform" booth at Izmir University of Economics to answer questions about “English, Education, Entrepreneurship” topics. John Bass, U.S. Ambassador to Turkey, Ekrem Demirtaş, President of IUE Board of Trustees, Prof. Dr. Can Muğan, IUE Rector, academicians and students attended the opening of the event.
In his opening speech, Ambassador John Bass stated that the platform would offer great opportunities to future generations about education, trade, and entrepreneurship. “We are very glad to see this platform at your school which will allow you to become successful entrepreneurs in the future. Knowing that we have partners in Izmir and in Turkey, and creating entrepreneurial opportunities makes us really happy,” said Bass.
President Ekrem Demirtaş, on the other hand, reminded that the University welcomed dignitaries such as Prince Charles, Former Italian Prime Minister Prodi, and Greek Prime Minister Aleksis Tsipras since its establishment and he said the international level of education offered by the University was recognized by other countries. President Demirtaş indicated that students would get a chance to see the university campuses across USA by means of this E3 platform.
Ambassador Bass at Selfie contest
After the speeches, Ambassador Bass, President Demirtaş, and Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan participated in the selfie contest that was held as part of the event. Ambassador John Bass also took a picture at the contest where the selfie with the largest crowd would be awarded. Before the ceremony, IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan presented an earthenware to Bass that was made by the academicians and students of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design.
