HISTORICAL BUILDINGS OF BAYINDIR WILL BLOSSOM
Bayındır, a county known for its beautiful flowers, will get a touch of architectural restoration. Students of Architectural Restoration Program of IUE Vocational School will be working on building survey, redesign, and renovation of the Olive Oil Factory Inn in the region in collaboration with Bayındır Municipality. Students will also perform their internships at the restoration work-sites of Bayındır Municipality. This way, Bayındır will get a makeover of its historical buildings and its streets.
Students toured the Olive Oil Factory and drew skecthes as part of the project led by Lecturer Seda Cengiz, Coordinator of Architectural Restoration Program and Lecturer Oylum Dikmen. Cengiz gave information about the project and she said, “The Olive Oil Factory building has not gone under a restoration up until now. Therefore, we wanted to focus on this area. The factory is still being used, even if just a bit. However, it requires an urgent restoration because its bad shape. Therefore, we will start working on the factory inn. Our students will prepare building survey, redesign, restitution and renovation projects of the building”.
Cengiz also stated that the students would perform their summer internships at the bath house restoration and street arrangement projects.
