FOLLOWING THE PATH TO “ENTREPRENEURSHIP”
The youth, who are taking their first steps towards entrepreneurship, came together at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Junior and seniors discussed examples of entrepreneurship, and later on met the investors who are going to lead their enterprises as part of the CaseCampus Program, curated by Endeavor Turkey and sponsored by Akbank. Izmir University of Economics welcomed more than 250 students who worked on business models.
The event also hosted an “Entrepreneurship” panel led by Taylan Demirkaya, Lecturer and Director of IUE Embryonix. Participants Burak Hucuptan, Founder of Chef Seasons, Ataç Besi, Founder of Gara Guzu, and Esra Gönen, Founder of Originn Coworking, shared their experiences with the audience.
CaseCampus Coordinator Utku Tuncay stated that they had been bringing entrepreneurs with students for 2 years as part of CaseCampus Case Studies Program, and analyse sample cases together. “Young aspiring entrepreneurs came together with entrepreneurs from the ecosystem, mentors, investors, and trainers, and got a chance to experience real life entrepreneur stories. They learned about the experiences, challenges, achievements and setbacks the entrepreneurs within Endeavor Network such as BuldumBuldum, Cosa, Dugun, and Nişfud have faced in their entrepreneurial journeys. Also, groups were established and given target group, sector, and business models randomly, and asked to make three-minute presentations,” said Tuncay and indicated that they would be meeting with young future entrepreneurs in Eskişehir on December 16.
‘Real life cases’
Taylan Demirkaya, Lecturer and Director of IUE Embryonix, stated that students came together with successful entrepreneurs and learned about the basics of entrepreneurship through written case studies, video series and live forum discussions. Demirkaya said, “Our students came together with successful Endeavor Entrepreneurs at a brand new, innovative, an interactive learning platform. We discussed how an entrepreneurial mind-set should be, what students should pay attention to in order to become successful entrepreneurs, whom they should get in touch with, and what they should learn. They tried to manage the dilemma faced by Dugun.com enterprise. They established a new business model for Dugun.com as a group, and discussed it”.
