IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS HOSTED THE MEMBERS OF ESTIEM
More than 300 hundred industrial engineering and business management students from various countries across Europe came together at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Students from 31 countries such as Germany, Sweden, Finland, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, etc., all members of the European Students of Industrial Engineering and Management Club (ESTIEM), one of the largest student communities across Europe, came to know Izmir up close in the organization that was hosted by IUE Industrial Systems Community ESTIEM Committee. Members of ESTIEM also held their council meeting at IUE.
Yücel Önal, President of IUE Industrial Systems Community, stated that they hosted the 55th Council Meeting of ESTIEM, and after a voting, next year’s meeting would be held at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. He said that they organized short trips and various activities in Izmir for the members. “The event, with the participation of 300 academically and socially developed students, was followed up by a student network that reaches out to 60 thousand industrial engineering and business management students from best schools across Europe. The participants from 82 universities discussed topics like the future of industrial engineering and business management in Europe and across the globe, project and time management, marketing strategies of leading companies, and importance of analytical thinking in business, in addition to the council meeting. We established very good friendships. I believe that we have now 300 new volunteer ambassadors of Izmir and Turkey,” said Önal.
