AMONG THE TOP 50
İnan Evin, a junior at Department of Software Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), ranked among the top 50 students worldwide at the competition held by UNITY, world-renowned software company and a cross-platform game engine. Evin, thanks to his portfolio and motivation letter, qualified to attend the Game Developers Conference (GDC), world's largest professional game industry event, to be held in San Francisco.
Evin reported that the competition was organized worldwide, and scholarships were given to 50 students. He said that he started developing games at the age of 11, and improved himself since then. Evin indicated that the education he received at Izmir University of Economics allowed him to grab opportunities. “I have come a long way in game development journey I started when I was 11 years old. I have this great portfolio with the contribution of the opportunities my university offered me. I constantly worked on improving myself. I attended this competition with an 8-year Unity game engine and 10-year game development experience. I had a chance to display all my projects I developed so far. The outcome is, I get to go to a world's largest game conference sent by world-renowned software company,” said Evin.
İnan pointed out new technologies were promoted, game awards were given, and world-renowned companies delivered presentations at the conference, where there were training courses and hiring occurred as well. İnan stated that the conference would take place on March 19 – 23 in San Francisco, USA.
