CAREER FIRST STEPS
Izmir University of Economics (IUE) brought students and graduates together with human resources managers as part of the Career Days event to get them familiar with business world, and help them shape their career. Human resources officials of 50 companies and representatives of 13 international universities interviewed with graduates and students.
Students got a chance to find employment before they graduate, learned about requirements for doing master’s and Ph.D. abroad, and about scholarships at Career Days event in which long established companies in the business of informatics, insurance, food, digital media, automotive, tourism, auditing, logistics, translation, and textile, etc. participated.
IUE Rector Prof. Dr. Can Muğan pointed that students proceeded with business world in every stage of their education. The Rector said, “The University makes a point of offering an education model which allows students to perform internship and get trained intertwined with business. We help them steer their career journey from early on. They are offered education, which is blend of theoretical and practical information, from the academicians who are experts in their fields. And during their internship, they get a chance to experience work life and combine their fresh information with practical life.”
Students and graduates meet with human resources representatives of companies based on line of businesses, and are interviewed at the Career Days event, stated the Rector and she said that they got a chance to establish an employment network regarding their future careers. Prof. Dr. Muğan indicated that Career Days event was an important step to prepare students for future where they also experienced job interviews.
