Faculty members and students of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) are making the dreams of students from Batman come true. Students of Çayönü Çıkarlar Elementary School from Kozluk, Batman, will take part in the dance performance as part of observance of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, by wearing the designs of IUE fashion designers.
Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Assistant Professors Ebru Corsini, Dilek Himam Er, Lecturer Jörn Fröchlich and students designed and sewed costumes for students by using waste textile. Prof. Dr. Adanır stated that they designed costumes for 4 female and 4 male students. Prof. Dr. Adanır said, “Children’s request touched our hearts and we wanted to make them happy on a day especially dedicated for them. We volunteered to sew costumes they can use at their performances. We used lace to decorate them. Acting Principal Hasan Güneş, and Teacher Ayşe Yıldırım reached us and we prepared such a nice gift for the children. Teachers told us that children loved the costumes and were very eager to perform on April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. We feel very proud about making them happy on their special day”.
