KIDS PLAYED OUTDOOR GAMES
Children, the future of Turkey, became acquainted with outdoor games at Izmir University of Economics. They learned and played outdoor games such as hopscotch, dodge ball, jump rope, sack race, etc. on Balçova Campus of IUE. They had fun with educational toys, designed by students of Child Development Program of Vocational School of Health Services, and were engaged with scientific activities.
Approximately 400 children, from different branches of IZELMAN Kindergartens of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, celebrated April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s Day with games at the traditional event organized by Child Development Program of Vocational School of Health Services, Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Children had fun with educational toys, books, costumes, masks, and instruments designed by students of Child Development Program of Vocational School of Health Services as part of their materials design course at the ‘3rd IUE Children’s Festival’.
Ezgi Oral, Lecturer at IUE Vocational School of Health Services, Child Development Program, gave information about the event. Oral said, “We get together with kindergartners at this traditional event. Our students get a chance to experience hands-on learning, improve their communication skills with children, and play games with them. We celebrated the April 23rd National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, the only day dedicated for children. Approximately 400 children attended our event with their teachers. Playing is the best method of learning. Therefore, children need to go outside more and play games.”
Oral said that students were involved with children one on one, and taught them games as they were making them engaged with various activities.
