HEALTH TECHNICIANS TRAINING WORKSOP
The First Workshop of “University and Sector Cooperation in the Training of Health Technicians" was hosted by Vocational School of Health Services, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) at IUE Conference Hall.
The future of employment was addressed at the event where Lecturer Nursun Üstünkarlı, Vice Director of IUE Vocational School of Health Services, and Prof. Dr. Hakan Abacıoğlu, Dean of IUE Faculty of Medicine, delivered the opening speeches. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeynep Şişli, Lecturer, IUE Faculty of Law, Division of Labor Law and Social Securities delivered, “Rights and Responsibilities of Health Professionals”, and Dr. Ela Burcu Üçel delivered, “The Future of Employment in Health Sector: Employee and Employer Expectations, What Kind of an Employee? What Kind of a Work Environment?” titled conferences during the first session of the workshop.
“The Sector’s Expectations in Enhancement of Internship and Employment Opportunities” titled panel took place at the second session of the workshop. Representing the public hospitals, Dr. M. Turhan Sofuoğlu Chief Physician Assistant of Izmir Tepecik Education and Research Hospital, and Nalan Yalçın, Chief Nurse of Gazi Hospital, attended the panel moderated by Vice Director Nursun Üstünkarlı.
“Obstacles Faced by the Sector Organizations and Vocational Schools of Health Services during Internship Process and Solution Proposals” were also discussed at the workshop where faculty members and students of IUE Vocational School of Health Services, representatives of public and private hospitals in Izmir, and administrators and faculty members of other vocational schools of health services participated.
Nursun Üstünkarlı stated that they held the first of the many workshops to come. Üstünkarlı said, “We addressed the expectations and problems concerning the enhancement of internship opportunities, and employment of graduates of vocational schools of health services. The outcome was positive in terms of collaborating to find common solution proposals for these problems”.
