IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS RECEIVES SCIENTIFIC AWARD FROM USA
Asst. Prof. Fabrizio Pinto, Faculty Member from Department of Aerospace Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), has been selected for Honorable Mention, a prestigious award given by the “Gravity Research Foundation” located in USA for the best and most well written essays about gravitation, its theory, applications or effects. This is the eighth time Asst. Prof. Pinto receives an award from this foundation for his scientific articles.
Representing Izmir, Asst. Prof. Fabrizio Pinto, IUE Faculty Member, has taken his place among the receivers of this award, which has been given, for broader studies devoted to achieving a better understanding of gravitation, to Nobel Laureates such as George Smoot, Julian Schwinger, Gerard ‘t Hooft, and other notable scientists such as John Archibald Wheeler, Stephen Hawking, and Roger Penrose.
Asst. Prof. Fabrizio Pinto of the IUE Department of Aerospace Engineering stated that he was very happy to have brought this award to Izmir. Pinto said, “In my article, I proposed to measure the gravitational field with a different method. The major advantage of this approach is that the dimensions of the proposed equipment can be very small. A device that will be developed based on the proposed principle will be used in spacecraft while it is travelling to measure minor changes in the gravitational field or very small accelerations. I am very happy to receive a new award for my article. Studies with our students continue. I know that Turkey will also progress in this area quickly.”
