NEW SCIENTIFIC PROJECTS IN THE PHYSICS DEPARTMENT OF IUE
IUE Department of Physics attracts attention with its TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey) projects. As part of the TÜBİTAK 3501 Project entitled Synchronization in Quantum Networks, Dr. Göktuğ Karpat, associate professor at IUE Department of Physics, will analyse the correlations among the quantum mechanical systems which form an interactive network. Thanks to the development of new fields such as quantum computing, quantum information processing and quantum cryptology, the research, which will be supported by TÜBİTAK for three years, aims to develop an understanding on the quantum networks and the synchronization phenomenon that can emerge on these networks.
Dr. Gürsoy Bozkurt Akgüç, associate professor at IUE Department of Physics, will conduct a project titled “Examination of active nano particles in two-dimensional complicated surface: Living Crystal Formation”. Within the scope of TÜBİTAK 1001 project, Dr. Akgüç will examine the crystal formation via fluids by using the basic living model called active particles and the off-balanced Statistical Physical features of these particles.
Prof. Dr. Abbas Kenan Çiftçi, Head of IUE Department of Physics signed the “memorandum of understanding” at CERN. It was agreed that a part of the prototype of the collider is going to be developed in Turkey. It was stated that the negotiations with Atomic Energy Commission (Turkey) continue for the funding of the part of the project that will be conducted in Turkey.
