Prof. Dr. Gül Akdoğan, Member of IUE Faculty of Medicine and Chair of FEBS Education Committee, reported that the workshop was based on the needs of molecular life sciences in Turkey. Prof. Dr. Akdoğan stated that innovation, e-learning, graduate education, and education and research topics were addressed throughout the event. She said that the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and the Turkish Biochemical Society also supported the event. “We discussed the ways to train the future scientists more efficiently. Although number of students and information increases, resources are decreasing in return. Therefore, we addressed the difficulties faced by quality education. We have taken steps to adopt educational approaches, which also involve students in the learning process, motivate co-learning, give priority to use information in real life situations instead of classical transfer of information in training scientist who will work in health and life sciences, especially in medicine, dentistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology,” said Prof. Dr. Akdoğan.
Prof. Dr. Nazmi Özer, Cahir of Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) said, “As educators, we need to adapt to new emerging technologies. Education should become a part of our lives just as it used to be in Village Institutes.”
