DISTINGUISHED YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD GOES TO IUE ACADEMICIAN
Assoc. Prof. Göktuğ KARPAT, Faculty Member, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Department of Physics, has been awarded the “Distinguished Young Scientist Award (GEBIP), 2018” of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TUBA) in the field of physics. Assoc. Prof. Karpat will receive 20 thousand lira over three years for his studies in the field of physics.
Assoc. Prof. Göktuğ Karpat, who studies on quantum information theory and open quantum systems, became one of the 37 academicians to qualify to receive the 2018 GEBIP award of TUBA for his studies. Assoc. Prof. Karpat has been awarded the award for his researches on putting quantum computers into practice, which are next generation of supercomputers. Quantum computers will help solve problems, like modelling complex chemical processes, that existing computers cannot even come close. Assoc. Prof. Göktuğ Karpat will receive 20 thousand lira over three years for his studies in the field of physics.
