FALL FASHION SHOW BY IZMIR UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS
41 young fashion designers displayed their designs at the 2018 – 2019 Fall Semester Fashion Show of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE). The performance was greatly appreciated by the crowd.
IUE’s traditional Fall Semester Fashion Show, where collections of second, third and fourth year fashion design students are displayed, showcased 120 unique designs of 41 students this year. The 2nd year students created their designs based on origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, and entomology, the study of insects. The 3rd year students created designs by taking inspiration from a memento that evoke their personal memories from their childhood or early youth. The 4th year fashion design students were inspired by famous works of the Bauhaus School, which was founded in 20th century in Germany and adopted innovative trends in all branches of art. Students’ collections have been developed around Christopher Isherwood`s Novel “Good-bye to Berlin” on which the famous Musical “Cabaret” is based. Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, said, “While creating their designs, our students got inspired by the impact of Bauhaus School on design and art. Bauhaus School, which, was founded in 1919, will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. This fashion show has been a joint effort of academicians, technicians, and students with a great team spirit.”
