Our designs are now flying around the world. She got inspired by paper planes and designed cabin crew uniforms for Atlasglobal Airlines. Starting from May, Atlasglobal Airlines will be using the collection of Yaren Eren, junior at Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Yaren Eren came in first place at the cabin crew uniform design competition sponsored by Atlasglobal.
Cabin crew uniforms of an airline company consists of student design for the first time in Turkey. The debut of the collection took place in Istanbul with a fashion show. Prof. Dr. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Prof. Dr. Elvan Özkavruk Adanır, Head of IUE Department of Fashion and Textile Design, and Asst. Prof. Arzu Vuruşkan accompanied Eren to the fashion show.
Eren told that Atlasglobal and Hugo Boss sponsored the design competition; collections were prepared in 48 hours, and submitted to the jury. “I became winner among 12 finalists. The education I received so far helped me greatly. While preparing the collection, we combined design and function. I always dreamt about flying. Paper planes enthralled me. Paper planes inspired me when designing my collection. We also consulted the cabin crew during the designing phase. I tried to design uniforms in which they can feel comfortable and functional,” said Eren.
“Got inspired by Samurais”
On the other hand, Hasan Utku, student at IUE Vocational School, Footwear Design and Manufacturing Program, came in first place at the International Footwear Design Competition as part of the Shoexpo – 45th Izmir Footwear and Bags Fair organized by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality IZFAS. Usta indicated that he was impressed by the Samurai way of life. “Daily life of samurais fascinate me. My design is based on the belt they put around their belly. I made it to the men’s final. My design was manufactured and submitted to the jury. I am very happy that the jury selected my design,” stated Usta.
