Children’s dream toys became report card gifts
Students of Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) turned the dream toys of students into reality. The dream toy drawings of 18 students from Bayraklı 100. Yıl Elementary School were turned into three-dimensional designs as part of the “Toy Design Project”.
Asst. Prof. Didem Kan-Kılıç, from IUE Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, pointed that this project reassured once again about how creative imaginary world of children was. Kan-Kılıç said, “Students from Departments of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Visual Communication Design, and Fashion and Textile Design, who are taking this course, turned children’s drawings into three-dimensional designs. Toys were manufactured at Zürafa Wooden Production Workshop with the sponsorship of Izmir Demir Çelik Sanayi A.Ş. (Iron and Steel Industry Inc.), and given to students as a report card gift. It was so rewarding to share their excitement and happiness”.
Kan-Kılıç stated that they developed a social responsibility project that can meet the needs of the society. Kan-Kılıç also indicated that Ali Matay, Lecturer from IUE Department of Cinema and Digital Media, prepared a project book that involves the pictures of toys, their production processes, and three-dimensional final versions.
