Exhibition from Izmir University of Design at Good Design Izmir
Balca Demirbilek, Cansu Türkoğlu, Ramazan Say and Umut Onat,2nd year Visual Communication and Design students at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Izmir University of Economics, have been the youngest designers to be invited to Good Design Izmir, which is organized by Municipality of Izmir and Izmir Akdeniz Academy. Visual Communication and Design students redesigned their final projects that they did in their course, Basic Design Course (FFD102) for Good Design exhibition.
IUE Visual Communication Design lecturer and the project director Nina Kertselli said: ‘We, with our students, had a social awareness project. The purpose of this project is to attract people’s attention to the dangers of consumption. Most of the materials used in this project are the garbage that the students collected like metal, plastic and cloth, which reinforces the message that we wanted to convey. It is high time we thought about what kind of a future we will leave for our children, and if they will enjoy clean air, green forests and a biological diversity.’
‘we are used to wise messages coming from successful and experienced lives’, Kertselli says ‘However, this time it is different, with the message coming from younger generations and it is touching, urgent and inspiring.’ ‘Young people are telling us to stop and think, stop excess consumption and production, and they are telling us to do this for our future generations.’ she added. Kentselli also stated that anamorphic studies are a visual composition that looks right from a certain angle and looks deformed when seen from different angles.
