Department of Architecture, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) and Izmir Chamber of Commerce 70th Architecture Group- Future Female Designers co-organized a “Female Architects Panel”. Architects Pınar Odaman, Yosun Ezgi Demirci, Elif Sağlamer, Nur Kocasoy Bağcı, and Jülide Tutan Hergül attended the panel as speakers which was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Aslı Ceylan Öner, Head of IUE Department of Architecture. The panelists shared their experiences with, and gave advice to the future architects, and told them to gain experience and specialize in a specific area.
Architect Pınar Odaman pointed out the importance of internships performed during undergraduate study, and she said, “It is very important to gain experience during school. You are the ones to succeed us. Start working before seeking others’ approval.”
Architect Elif Sağlamer stated that architecture included a holistic approach and it was a profession that required patience. Architect Nur Kocasay Bağcı said, “I specialized in restoration. I believe it would be very beneficial for students to specialize in a specific area. When you are doing something, do your best. Be the best one.” Architect Jülide Tutan Hergül asked female architects not to give up during the implementation phase. And Architect Yosun Ezgi Demirci indicated that students would benefit greatly from observing the architectural structures through technical trips during their undergraduate education.
