The special collection including 110 unique designs of students of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) made a debut. The designs, which were created under the guidance of 32 academics, attracted great attention. Prof. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, said, “Our students proved their uniqueness with their special designs.”
The “Fall Semester Fashion Show” that took place at IUE E Block, started with display of the designs of the 3rd year students. Students, who were inspired by their summer holiday memories, pepped up the show with their designs. Following that, the designs of 4th year students made their debut under the “Sustainability” theme. The designs, which accentuated the environmental awareness, and were created by using recyclable materials and textile wastes, were admired greatly by the audience.
“ENVIRONMENTAL RESPECT EMPHASIZED”
Prof. Ender Yazgan Bulgun, Dean of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, stated that the students made a difference with their designs. “Our students, academics, and technicians worked devotedly to prepare these designs. The fashion show itself was carried out in an organization where students, who took the ‘Fashion Show Organization and Choreography” course by Lecturer Başak Gürsoy, took part in person. 3rd year students prepared for the fashion show under the guidance of Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Şölen Kipöz. They used a memory regarding their summer holiday in creating their designs. Later, we watched the collection of fourth year students under the theme of ‘Sustainability’ under the guidance of Lecturer Jörn Fröhlich. Here, we tried to emphasize the importance of being aware of, and respectful to our environment. Recycled clothing items, textile wastes were used to create new designs. I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who worked diligently in preparing this fashion show,” said Prof. Bulgun.
